Jolene Boyds
love for and experience with church music was fostered in the
churches pastored by her father. Although an American by birth, she
lived in Canada for 12 years. There she attended and graduated from
the Briercrest Bible College where she was very involved musically.
She then went on to receive classical music instruction through the
revered Royal Conservatory of Music. During this time she became a
Yamaha School of Music teacher where she discovered her combined love
of children and music instruction.
From Canada,
Jolene moved to Germany where she taught music to the children of
missionaries for five years at the Black Forest Academy, an arm of
the Janz Team Ministries. Back in the States, she founded Double
Blessings, a piano duet ministry. Additionally, for six years she
directed and performed with Four Praising, a four-piano ensemble,
giving city-wide concerts.
Jolenes
passion for arranging music has been expressed in her nine keyboard
books published prior to Little
Fingers Go to Church and Fingerprints
of Faith. She is an active member of the Oregon Music Teachers
Association and the Salem Federated Music Club. Jolene delights in
maintaining a large piano studio for all ages, most of whom are
involved in state evaluation exams, festivals, and competitions. She
lives in Salem, Oregon, with her husband, Rick. Their involvement at
Salems First Church of the Nazarene is a fulfilling and
important part of their lives. |
